I have many fond memories of Peter from when we lived in Calumet. He christened my two sons. Still remember him coming for a visit and our nasty Muscovy duck chased him down the driveway. My condolences to his family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Peter. He was a lovely man and a wonderful cleric who could make you feel warm on the coldest of days with his sermons. My deepest sympathy to your family.

Dear Doreen, Joy, Bruce & Heather & family, I offer you my sincerest, heartfelt condolences for the loss of Fr. Peter; he is a very special priest, mentor & friend who I was fortunate/blessed enough to work for & worship with when I was a student at St. John the Baptist in Pte. Claire almost 30 years ago. I loved Fr. Peter & was very grateful for everything he taught me & all the time we shared together. I’m so sorry that I won’t be able to join you at his service but I will say Mass for him in my own church this coming Sunday (Oct. 20). Rest Eternal grant unto him, O Lord, & may light perpetual shine upon him. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of Almighty God, Rest In Peace & Rise In Glory. To Doreen and family we send our sincerest condolences and pray you can draw on each others strengths at this difficult time. When my brother was a hostage in Iraq I was drawn to enter St The Baptist church one Sunday. It was there I met Peter Asbill, a man with a deep faith, and an abundance of patience to address all my questions and the wisdom to guide me in my search. The kindness he showed me as a human being, and the humility he demonstrated in his own faith, gave me the courage to plough through all that wilderness and finally ask Jesus to enter my life. Dear Doreen, Joy, Bruce and Heather, Please accept my sincere condolences as you mourn the loss of a loving husband, father and grandfather. When Peter came to St. John the Baptist Church we were all so very happy and we remained so throughout his ministry. We missed him dearly when he decided to move to Saskatchewan. Peter was so kind, so humble and level headed. He was truly a shepherd to his St. J.the B. flock. May your memories and those of family and friends bring you comfort today and in the weeks ahead.
